“The Story of our Local Water Supply” by Roger Ellison

Local photographer, Roger Ellison has addressed us a number of times and never failed  to hold our attention with his lively delivery and the quality of his photography.

This time he deals with a very different theme as he takes us through the history of our water supply. It is an original and fascinating topic involving much research into the archives to bring to life this huge scheme which is now largely forgotten.

He has gathered a multitude of images both current and historical, to illustrate its construction and the many challenges that needed to be overcome in the early 20th century. Using diagrams, maps and photographs, we follow the route of the original pipeline from the reservoir through North Wales, across the Dee and then Neston, Parkgate, Gayton, Thingwall to its final destination,

Birkenhead.

It is to be wondered how many have really thought about this topic which of course is hugely important to us all. Prepare for another illuminating story!
