Wirral; its pioneering role in the provision of ‘Artisan Dwellings’ by Elizabeth Davey
Elizabeth Davey is a retired lecturer and very well-respected local historian. Her comprehensive command of so many local topics never fails to amaze. This subject is quite different from those I have already heard and I am sure it will be an illuminating view of the Wirral.
She is the author of The History of Birkenhead in which she traces the development of the 1801 settlement of 110 living in 16 houses to the 110,912 in 1901. The huge growth in industry expanded throughout the Wirral area requiring a large workforce and housing. It will be interesting to learn how such growth impacted housing development.
We are privileged that such an accomplished speaker, has been available and I have no doubt that this will be a fascinating morning.
