‘The Conservation Areas of Wirral’ by Gillian Bolt
It will be a pleasure to welcome this month’s Speaker to Heswall u3a. Gillian Bolt first presented to us from her study, via Zoom in July 2021 during Lockdown! We were treated to an informative tour of Wirral’s precious heritage.
Gillian is the Secretary of Conservation Areas Wirral, a volunteer forum that was set up to “promote and protect” Wirral Council’s 26 unique and historic Conservation Areas.
Unfortunately, these Conservation Areas are under significant pressure from inappropriate development, green belt incursions and so forth.
I am sure our members will be concerned to learn surprising things about some of these areas as we “tour” through them during the talk.
How many of us knew that the Wirral has 26 designated Conservation Areas?
This certainly promises to present an illuminating view of our special peninsular which will no doubt be very popular with our members.
